NO BULL! BIG DECSIONS IN THE METS PEN

The Mets bullpen situation is such that Sandy Alderson and his staff are trying to do some creative bookkeeping to by some time.

The Mets have asked Jason Isringhausen to stay an extra week in St Lonesome so to make sure his elbow is sound. The biggest fear the team has is keeping Izzy and he craps out in May. They have asked Blaine Boyer to accept a minor league deal when Boyer figures if he’s released he’d get a major league deal in a heartbeat.  The two moves come with the realization that Many Acosta and his 90+ fastball will be snatched up on wavers as well.  For a team that everyone feel s is a MLB bottom feeder, it seems there is some talent worth scheming for.

I’d like to see Izzy staying an extra week just to prove he can pitch without pain. The Mets want him on this team badly and if it weren’t for the pop he heard in his elbow a week ago, all this maneuvering wouldn’t be happening. Izzy is on the record as saying he will not take a minor league deal it’s big leagues or retirement for him . Boyer is interesting as he has also has an out in his deal with the Mets and they love his 90+ fastball that he gets down in the strike zone that converts to tons of ground ball outs.

I’d let Acosta go and hope Boyer agrees to a Minor League deal, if he doesn’t the you have no choice but to let him go as well and take a chance on Izzy even though you know he could be done by June.

One thing I better not see is Bobby Parnell getting optioned to Buffalo that would be a Minaya-like move.

BASEBALL BLOGGERS ALLIANCE TALK TONIGHT AT 11 PM ET ON BLOGTALK RADIO

No THIS CALL TO THE BULPEN tonight as my self and Evan Riney of Rhino Rants will be host the weekly Baseball Bloggers Alliance BBA Talk podcast tonight at 11pm ET. The show is always available on the BBA Talk page on Blog Talk Radio and as a download in iTunes.

I think Keith Hernandez speaks for all Mets fans when he vents his frustration about Big Pelf. You have to wonder if Pelfrey will ever cross that bridge from potentially a front line pitcher to a real Ace of the staff.

Is there any reason why Jose Reyes needs to comeback this season? What’s the point?

So now I see where the Mets made a mistake with Oliver Perez. Instead of insisting that OP go to Buffalo or St. Lonesome, they should have just loaned him out the Mexican League. He’d of left in a heartbeat.

I’ll be shocked, SHOCKED!!!!! If Wally Backman is not the next manager of the NY Mets

Another former Brooklyn Cyclone makes his debut tonight as Dillion Gee makes his Major League debut tonight in DC

FREE JUSTIN TURNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All is well in NYC, there was life found on Revis Island.

MORE, MORE, MORE HOW DO YOU LIKE IT, HOW DO YOU LIKE IT

I’m still trying to figure out how this whole Bernie Madoff, rip off is effecting the Mets when it comes to adding payroll. Add in the fall of the financial institution and Auto industries (two of the big advertisers and suite buyers in sports) is this part of the reason that the Mets have not offered contracts to players they desperately need or is it Omar being a cool calculated assassin?

If I had to rate the remaining free agents out there that  I would love the Mets to obtain the list would start with Derek Lowe, then either Ollie Perez or Randy Wolf and then Manny. If it weren’t for the latest news on the Skill Sets taking a major hit in the pocket book by that no good scumbag Madoff, I’d be in full rant mode about the Mets not even bidding on Lowe or even looking at Manny but I still don’t know how much this scandal will work against the team spending money on big ticket players.

A pitcher like Lowe even at 35 years old would not be a big risk with a 5 yr deal for the fact that he is durable and even if he spends the last two years of the deal as a reliever he would still be an asset. If it comes down to Ollie Perez or Lowe I’d take Lowe in a heartbeat. Then add Randy Wolff and you have to security of Jon Niese in Buffalo as the first call up in case of injury.

I know the hard economic times we live in are real but I guess when it comes to the Mets I’m blind to fiscal responsibility because even with the great week the Mets had in Las Vegas I want more but I don’t feel what I’m asking for is outlandish.

L MILLZ AND WIGGY ON THE TRADING BLOCK?

If it’s so bring them both back to NY. After reading this post, I too would be surprised if Jim Bowden traded Milledge (Wait a minute we’re talking Jim Bowden here just get him liquored up and he might do it) but if he went to the Phillies that would out and out suck. Now Wiggy would fill a great spot for the Mets with his righty bat, versatility and bull dog attitude (add Wiggy and Murphy and the Mets would have that much needed grit) and of course I’d welcome Milledge back to Gangsta’ Land in a heartbeat.
