WOW IT REALLY IS PORT ST. LONESOME, WHERE IS EVERYONE?

At some point, Omar, Tony B, or J-Man need to grab Jeffey Skill Sets by his little neck and tell him to stop being a lackey for the Used Car Salesman. If it’s not slotting players in the draft, it’s not going over payroll to pay the luxury tax and now it’s this pain in the ass WBC that the Mets have sent 15 players to including Fernando Tatis as a fill in for the Tragically Hip Alex Rodriguez. Enough! Lets do what right for the NY Mets instead of following orders of the Whacky Professor.

WOW our Pro Baseball Central show from this past Wednesday night has struck up major debate in the Mets-Phillies rival as Bill Bear of  Crashburn Alley got our “Irish up” when Joe and I  went on a positions by position comparison of the two NL East front runners. Check out Bill’ site for his mathematical break down of the two teams then listen to the show as Joe and I spit tobacco juice (sorry Bill that some of it got on your shoes)   and tighten the belt on our flannel uniforms and use old school thinking. Just hearing me defend Mariano Rivera is worth listening to. Yeah, that’s right I had to defend a Highlander and I’m pissed that Bill made me do that!

I’m not worried about John Maine even with him not feeling comfortable on the mound yesterday. Maine feels it his mechanics that are off and being that it’s early in spring and he’s coming off surgery to his wing as ling as he’s not hurting it’s just a matter of time before he gets his feel back on the mound.

Ryan Church fouled a pitch off his knee. It hurt. He put ice on it. It feels better. In other words, keep moving nothing to see here.

Tommy LaSorda says “You pinko, pussy, sons of bitch’s better be rootin’ for the good ol’ U S of A in the WBC or you’re a fuckin traitor” “and buy a fuckin’ shirt or cap too”

Who? Santana? Nah, nobody here by that name.

I am very very much bummed out that Life On Mars is getting booted off ABC but my mood has brightened  considerably by word that Curb Your Enthusiasm with the cast of SEINFELD making appearances on the show as well is back in production and will return to TV in the fall. Just hearing the shows theme song makes me giddy! (wish I could link it but shhhhhhhhh I’m at work)

JOE MADDON’ GOT THOSE BLOWN SAVE BLUES

I did take some perverse pleasure watching the Famous Rays bullpen implode last night in one of the great collapse not involving the NY Mets. I admit I turned the channel at 7-0 to watch Life On Mars (Can we just give Harvey Kitel the Best Actor in a Drama Emmy now and save time later)  and flipped back at 11PM waiting to see the Famous Rays celebrate their first Pennant so you know I was shit shocked to see the game was at 7-4. I hung for the rest and I must say that Coco Crisp at bat in the 8th should shown to every little leaguer in the country as that is how you work an AB and a pitcher.  Wheeler is a classic reliever with two pitches, fastball/slider and Crisp just kept fouling off pitch after pitch until he got hanging slider to drive to right field. You have a pitcher on the ropes and team that is now drowning in self doubt and defending championship team that is never out of a game. Just classic baseball. Now Game 6 becomes must see as the Rays and Joe Maddon are in uncharted territory as they gave the Red Sox life. They had the pillow over their faces but lifted up too early.

The dark clouds of Flushing seem to be lifting a bit after reading Adam Rubin’s Q & A with Daniel Murphy maybe the hard nosed Dykstra/Backman type we have been looking for is right under our nose.

It doesn’t look like the market of Manny will be a large one. Manny and Agent Bloodsucker are looking for a 6yr deal for over $120 mil. Unless the United Arab Emirates is getting an expansion team next season, that’s not happening.  Those demands are off base. The Dodgers management is in a bind here as they have to make an offer to Manny but how long can they hang in with the Mets, Highlanders and the dark horse in the Manny races the Blue Jays? I don’t really see the Highlanders going for Manny but they could make a bid just to break balls. The Dodgers should be the favorite to sign Manny but Frank McCourt not only doesn’t own a TV station that flows dough he has a piss poor relationship with PrimeTicket but you would think he’d try to sit down with the station to workout a partnership to keep Manny. McCourt should plead his case that if they add more to the rights fee for Dodger games it helps the team sign Manny and that brings up ratings which brings up the ad revenues and everyone makes some scratch.

If I’m Omar, I offer 4yrs/$100mil and wait for the counter offer. I wouldn’t budge off the years but I would go a bit higher on the money by using incentive bonuses but I’d cap my offer at $110 mil. Now in these economic times that looks like I’m bat shit crazy but as loony as it looks Manny will pay for himself as the SNY ratings go up and the merchandise revenues as well. If it’s just a question of money then Mets will make Manny theirs to loose if it’s all the other questions about attitude and the Manny Being Manny baggage that’ s another story. But if Manny gets away from Flushing again that will be sad.

LCS, LIFE ON MARS, HOCKEY AND CAROL ALT NAKED, HAPPY THURSDAY “YOUES GUYS”!

I know a lot of you in Orange and Blue Country don’t give a rat’s ass about this post season (Most Mets fans it seems are like my Ranger fans brethren as when the Rangers are not in the Stanley Cup hunt that’s the end of hockey season for them) but I do as I have put my angst and despair of the 2008 Mets campaign behind me and quite frankly I am very much looking forward to both LCS series.

I’m hoping the Dodgers take the NLCS and I’m also hoping that Omar Minaya is hiding outside the Dodgers hotel with a big bowl of rice and beans from one of the fine Dominican eating establishment in The Heights to lure Manny back home, but this series is sooooooo close that the only thing I’ll predict is a Seventh Game. This series comes down to bullpens as the Phinks have Brad Lidge and the Bums have Guns of Broxton to close for them. The supporting cast in each pen has Mets fans drooling and hopefully Omar is taking notes on how to build a better pen. This series goes 7 games and that’s as far out on a limb as I’ll go.

Same for the ALCS, my appeal for the Rays of Tampa is the owners Mets/Brooklyn roots, Scot Kazmir and the fact they take their name from one of my favorite pizzerias in Manhattan but then I have the issue with the Old Town Team of summer on Cape Cod and the Dropkick Murphy’s on my iPod and of course my close encounter with the Rem Dawg .  Tito is rolling the Dice (K) here by starting Matsuzaka over Jon Lester and then going with Josh Beckett in Game 2 saving Jon Lester for Game 3. The Rays counter with James Shields, Scott Kazmir and Matt Garza so I’ll say whoever is up 2 games to 1 will win this series.

Tony B is such a bad guy that the Mariners are looking at him for their GM spot. Sure I’m a cynic as I think it’s just window dressing as Bernazard meets the Latinio requirement for the interview process, Kim Ng filling two spots as an Asian-American woman so the minority window dressing will be complete this way the M’’s can give the job to Pat Gillick as he returns to the Emerald City.

I’m having the TiVo set for Life on Mars as I’m all over this show like a pair of Jordache Jeans. If I see Michael Imperiolli walking around the neighborhood I’ll ask him if he wants some of my old quinoa shirts, wrap around sweaters, or platform shoes. Don’t laugh I was a hottie back in those days.

What a night NLCS, Life on Mars and Opening Night of the NHL!!!!!! WOOOO-HHHHHHHOOOOOOO

Speaking of the NHL, Republican VP candidate Sarah Youbetcha will drop the first puck at Saturday’ Rangers-Flyers game  Also the Stepford Governor will be selling Tupperwear between periods .

WOW I haven’t bought an issue of Playboy since I wore those quinoa shirts and platform shoes but this issue is a must for me.

Tonight in Philly, Deion Sanders get to throw out the ceremonial first bucket of ice water over Tim McFullofshit’s head.

Looks like I better chop some more wood for the Hot Stove. This sucks it really really sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
