PLAYOFFS?? OH YEAH PLAYOFFS!!!!!

The New York Football Giants are back in the Super Bowl Tournament after a wonderful ass kicking of the Dallas Cowgirls at GIANTS Stadium last night. So now it’s on to the Tournament and the Atlanta Falcons come to the Swamp. The Atlanta offense will a huge test for the G-Men D, so for the first time in a long time, I’m hoping for a good ol’ fashion Nor’Easter to hit East Rutherford, NJ on Sunday

AS THEY SEE ‘EM-A FAN’S TRAVELS IN THE LAND OF UMPIRES

When it comes to umpires, I link them with MTA Board Members, people who listen to iPods with cheap ass headphones, and morons who talk on their cell phone while on line at the deli, as the people in this world I can’t stand but after reading Bruce Weber’s new book “As They See ‘Em, A Fan’s Travel in the Land of Umpires” (published by Scribner) I may knock them down to my “people who annoy me list”.

Weber a long time reporter for the New York Times, went to the Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpiring in Kissimmee FL back in 2005 to do a story for the Times and ended up enrolling in the Academy and has written this book to give fans an insight on the men who arbitrate the game of baseball.

Weber joins an umpiring crew in Double A and gives a first hand account on the travel, low pay, abuse and long days of umpiring in the bushes while dreaming of a Major League promotion just like the players in the lowly minors.

Weber also covers QuesTech and how it has effected the game, the way Richie Phillips screwed over the umpires on 1999, thoughts on instant replay and anecdotes from some of the more veteran umpires in baseball.

Weber writes a very entertaining book and it’s a subject not usually written about. It won’t make you join the Angel Hernandez Fan Club but it’s well worth your time to read.

DUNN TO DODGERS?

According to Jason Stark at ESPN.com The Dodgers are ready to talk with the agent for Adam Dunn which if he signs with the Hollywood Bums would knock them out of the Manny Sweepstakes and if that does happen will put big time pressure on the Skill Sets to loosen up the purse strings and make Jeffey Skill Set put or shut up as to how the Mets have plenty of Dead Presidents to spend. Well walk the walk Jeffey Boy walk the walk.

Big tip of the Mets cap tap to long time Kranepool Society reader Nik for the Manny pic.

LET’S TAKE OUR NEXT CALL, JEFFEY FROM FLUSHING YOU’RE ON THE FAN

Taking time out from counting the receipts from the luxury suites at the new Skill Set Pleasure Palace Jeffey Skill Sets came on WFAN with the Francesa the Bloviator to what was about 10 minutes of nothing.

Jeffey was happy that the Mets have re-upped with the WFAN and Francesa then morphed into a persona that resembled his ex-partner and gave Jeffey a thorough tounge bath saying how WFAN and the Mets have been long time partners and how the station is glad to have the team on it’s air waves and on and on. Jeffy said the organization is happy as well as Mets fan always know what station their on all the time but he would not state the real reason that the Mets stayed with the FAN and that’s all the dead presidents the station is paying them for the radio rights. So when the Bloviator asked about changes to the team Jeffey claims that Omar has total control over personnel and that their is no set budget. Jeffey did seem a perturbed that the Famous Rays with a payroll of about the price of two luxury suites are in the World Series and his team with one of the highest payrolls in the game are home watching on TV.

The bulk of the interview was all about &iti Field and the dismantling of Shea which should be an empty lot by January.

IF YOU’RE A LONG TIME HIGHLANDER FAN THIS STORY WILL MAKE YOU PUKE

I read this story by Harvey Aarton in today’s NY Times twice to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating. Now I have family and friends who root as hard and have long time association with the Bronx Bastards as I do with the Mets but this dickhead, Jeremy Flung is an embarrassment to not only the Highlander fans but to all fans who live through thick and thin with their allegiance to the teams they root for. How in the world can you call yourself a Highlander fan and not only go to Fenway but wear a Red Sox cap and ROOT for the Old Town Team? Can you picture yourself wearing a Phucking Phillies cap and going to CPB to root for the Phelatios? Hell to the god damn No you wouldn’t. The only thing I rooting for as it goes for the Phinks is they all eat in one of those greasy cheesesteak dumps and get food poisoning

BURGOS TURNS HIMSELF IN

The life and times of Ambiorix Burgos gets sadder and sadder as he turned himself over to authorities for allegedly killing two women in a hit and run incident in the Dominican Republic. Now the mother on one of the women is clamming it was a homicide as her daughter refused to go out with Burgos and he ran her over for revenge. If all this is true, the Burgos should rot in jail for a very long time.
