Hanging Out with Cleon Jones at Citi Field on 6-15-12 (Audio)

Since the Mets have invited me to the great Mets Bloggers events the past couple of season there have been any number of cool things and interesting players I’ve been privileged to be a part of and have met, but when we had the opportunity to not only talk with Cleon Jones but to share a pizza with him, it was an absolute blast. Check out the audio

TAKE HEART METS FANS YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Are you a Mets fan that feels down and out with this awful season? Well, you’re not alone my friend as there are plenty of other Disciples of the Blue and Orange that feel the same way. At a time like this you should not be alone with your depressing thoughts and that is why Greg Prince of Faith and Fear in Flushing and Jon Springer of Mets By The Numbers are the Mets fans Samaritans and have put together AMAZIN’ TUESDAYS at TWO BOOTS RESTAURANT (384 Grand St Manhattan) to soothe our souls and fill our bellies with beer and pizza and talk about our favorite baseball team and maybe plan a coup of $iti Field (well maybe not a coup but after a few cold Rheingold’s who knows what could happen)

So come out this Tuesday Night July 21st  at 7PM for the first installment of AMAZIN’ TUESDAY believe you need to get out and you’ll feel better for it.

THIS IS NOT HOW THE METS PLANNED TO SELL TICKETS

When the Mets unveiled the model of $iti Field not only did the envision a state of the art ball park but they also were of the belief that there would be so much money flowing through it’s coffers Freddie Skill Set could afford to buy Jeffey a personality but lo and behold the economy tanked and Bernie Madoff ripped off the Skill Sets fortune leaving the club not exactly swimming in currency. As opening day approches what we thought was a tough ticket, the first game at $iti Field, are as plentiful as the AM/NY give away newspapers at a Subway station. So what’s a team to do?

Well, first you try and bribe the fan base by offering a ticket to game 1 of the $iti Field era for the purchase of 5 more games. This is head spinning because the Mets wanted to be rid of us Seven-Pack ticket buyers as we were a nussience as it wasn’t worth the time and trouble to keep us on because the ticket demand at $iti would be off the charts. Well for the cheaper seats they were but the high rollers who wouldn’t know a curve ball from a High Ball are now hurtin’ for certain in this weak economy.

So becasue of that the Mets are now auctioning off opening day tickets in the exclusive Stuff Shirt section of the ball park so if you have an extra $525 laying around the couch cushions log on and put your bid in or better yet keep that cushion cash, order a pizza and watch the game on TV.

IT’S ALLRIGHT OMAR, I AIN’ T MAD AT YA

Seems to me Mets land is spilt on the non-signing of Derek Lowe by the Mets and Lowe going to our rival the Atlanta Braves. As much as I wanted Lowe I feel Omar did the right thing here as I like Lowe but not enough to over pay like Frank Wren did. I love pizza but if I go into a pizzeria and the mook behind the counter tells me a slice is 10 bucks well then I’m not eating pizza that day. Now say the Chinese take out next door has a special of General Tso Chicken/Fried Rice/Egg Roll and sweet iced tea for 7 bucks, I’m not only getting a full meal but I also have 3 dollars left to by a Lotto ticket.

Derek Lowe is the 10 dollar slice and Ollie Perez is the General Tso’s chicken.

If it took 4yrs/$60 mil for Lowe to sign with the Braves how far would you have wanted the Mets to go? 5yrs? $65 mil? That’s outrageous?

Same thing goes for OP, he better not have a shit eating grin on his face like he has the Mets over a barrel. Some people think the Mets should panic and over pay OP that is exactly what the shouldn’t do.

With all due respect to Oliver Perez until there is some other offer from some other team the 3yr/$30 mil offer still stands. Show me where OP has a better offer than that?  No way you give Perez 4yrs or more that $10 mil a year, alright maybe I go $11 mil but no way to I go up in years.
