YA MON, ROSTER-FARIAN IS IN DA HOUSE

Ya mon, it’s your friendly Roster-mon back ta look at who da Mets will bring up North. Yesta’ day was a fine fine performance by Da Boys in Blue and Orange as Santana, Murphy and Reed were exceptional, I mean dae was so good mon, dat  Three Little Bridies came by me window afta the game and sang:

Singin: don’t worry bout a thing,

cause every little thing gonna be all right.

Singin: don’t worry (don’t worry) bout a thing,

cause every little thing gonna be all right!

AAahhhhhhhhhhhh ya mon, sing you little brides, and pass the Ganja as we look at the where da 25 mon rosta is as of today:

PITCHERS (12)

Johan Santana LHP

Mike Pelfrey RHP

Oliver Perez LHP

John Maine RHP

Livan Hernandez RHP

So much for worrying over Santana’s elbow as he was in Cy Young form yesterday. As I look at Big Pelf I keep a bucket of cold water near by to cool me off as I have visions of a Co-Ace running through my head. With all the bullshit Joba talk in the NY media they are missing the break out player of the year in this town in Big Pelf  FUCK JOBA!!!! Ollie Perez went on a Mexican Rumspriga with the WBC and came back all fucked up. His mechanics were a shambles causing him to pitch like he as back in Black and Gold, but between Old School Dan Werthen and OP’s role model Johan Santana he is back to just plain old unpredictable Ollie. If John Maine were hurting I’d be worried but he claims emphaticly that he feels fine but is having trouble locating pitches and finding his comfort level on the mound. Let’s hope he finds his “happy zone” in the next two weeks. The very svelte Livan Hernandez has grabbed the 5th spot by the cajones and won’t let go. I’ve heard he’s an innings eater, any truth to that?

Frankie Rodriguez RHP

JJ Putz RHP

Sean Green RHP

Bobby Parnell RHP

Pedro Feliciano LHP

Darren O’Day RHP

Brain Stokes RHP

Sure this bullpen leans more to the right than FOX NEWS but if you’re going for quality then this is your pen. O’Day and Feliciano will be the new righty/lefty tag team and Stokes has earned a long man spot as well. Parnell has shown a high octane fastball that J-Man has fallen in love with. Warlord Jerry can go to this bullpen with confidence

CATCHER

Brian Schneider L

Ramon Castro R

Like Casey said, “without a catcher you’d have a lot of passed balls”

INFEILDERS

Carlos Delgado L

Luis Castillio S

Jose Reyes S

David Wright R

Alex Cora L

Nick Evans R

Time to tip my Mets cap to Luis Castillo who has been outstanding this spring. The only reason he will be relegated to the 8 hole is due to the lack of right hand hitting in the bottom third of the line up and that Daniel Murphy’ bat is to valuable to hit that low but days that Shrek catches or when Tatis plays that would move Castillo up to los dos. Is it better to be an everyday player in Triple A or a bench player in the big leagues? That’s the Nick Evans dilemma. I’d say bench player in the bigs

OUTFIELD

Daniel Murphy L

Carlos Beltran R

Ryan Church L

Jeremy Reed L

Fernando Tatis R

If the Mets leave Livan Hernandez off the 25 man until he’s needed (which looks like the plan ) then Bobby Keilty has a great shot of going North. Just watching Murphy will be worth paying for an overpriced ticket to $iti Field. Between Murph and Big Pelf they will be the BIG story in NY Baseball this summer not those over priced mercenaries in the South Bronx.

WORLD’S ARE COLLIDING HERE

As I was channel surfing last night I stumbled upon the US-PR WBC game on the MLB Network and I nearly passed out when I saw D-Wright sliding head first into home plate for Team America.  I figured Wright, the Mets and Mets fans had dodged a bullet when Wright taking in knee to the head was ok but now here comes the separated shoulder and 6 months on the DL but Wright jumped up clapping his hands and was in fine shape.  So relieved , I went back to Rangers-Canadians on MSG.

After a thrilling Rangers victory in a shootout of the Habs (and a jump to 6th place in the East, I so want the Devils in the first round just to kick Fat Marty’s ass) I flip back over to the classic which is now in the 9th inning just in time to see D-Wright take Fernando Cabrera’ slider that was down and away-a pretty good pitch-the other way (J-Man’s hitting drill comes thru again) for a well placed single to win the game for USA.

As happy as I was for Wright it was still a bit unnerving to see Derek Jeter and Jimmy Rollins grabbing Wright and hugging him during the celebration. I bet Jeter wishes his third baseman was hot like ours

IS THE METS 5TH STARTER UNDER THE MANGO TREE?

Thanks to Tim Redding’s bed shitting performance last night coupled by Freddy Garcia, the poster child for passage of the Pitchers With Disabilities Act, and John Neise still not ripe yet, the 5th starter spot in the Mets rotation is ready to fall in the lap of El Duque’ little half brother Livan, that is unless a certian Jeri-Curled right handed who just finished pitching in the WBC and is getting rave reviews from his former teammate is serious about signing an incentive laden contract that fits the payroll of Payless Mets.  This could get very interesting

Yes I still hate the WBC but I did watch the end of that Dominican-Holland games last night and yes it was a classic baseball game and the look on the players and manager Felipe Alou of Team D R was that of devistation but I’m just happy that Jose Reyes and Fernando Tatis are on the way back to St Lonesome

SPRING HAS SPRUNG, BABY!!

Just a couple of items before I head out for the day to enjoy the 65 degree day today in NYC, so with Roy Orbison’ Black and White Night coming through my headphones let’s look at some Mets scuttlebutt:

Looks all the angst over Johan Santana’ elbow was wasted energy by the media and fan base as Santana threw another BP session today and looked sharp and looks to be on track for opening day in Cincinnati:

“I feel pretty good,” Santana said. “I don’t see any reasons why I would not be ready for it. We have been working out, getting everything in the right way, right track, and I don’t think there will be any problems.”

David Lennon watch the session closely:

Of his 36 pitches, Santana threw 22 strikes. He got six swings and misses, with five of them coming on change-up. Even when his change-up was high in the strike zone — a dangerous spot — the group of Mackowiak, Nick Evans, Rene Rivera and Cory Sullivan couldn’t touch it.

Jose Reyes is riding the pine in today’s WB (S) C game between the D.R and the Flyin Dutchmen. Have I told you how much I hate the WBC?

Bye-bye Dirty Duaner? Could be since the Mets came save some coin by dropping him by April 1. Add in the fact he has not been the same Dirty Duaner since his infamous Rice and Beans run car crash in South Beach as he still can’t hit 90 on the JUGGS , it could be the end of the line for Sanchez as a Met

The more you look at the fight for the 5th spot in the Mets rotation the more I won’t be surprised if Petey signs with the Mets after the WBC

Wilmer Flores parents have submitted a permission slip to Jerry Manuel so Flores will play shortstop today against the Nationals (1PM Ch. 11) Flores was spotted in the clubhouse this morning with his Menudo lunch box and baseball shoes that light up when he runs (ahhhhhhhhh how cute)

not a good song a GREAT song by Roy Orbison watch the video here.

WOW IT REALLY IS PORT ST. LONESOME, WHERE IS EVERYONE?

At some point, Omar, Tony B, or J-Man need to grab Jeffey Skill Sets by his little neck and tell him to stop being a lackey for the Used Car Salesman. If it’s not slotting players in the draft, it’s not going over payroll to pay the luxury tax and now it’s this pain in the ass WBC that the Mets have sent 15 players to including Fernando Tatis as a fill in for the Tragically Hip Alex Rodriguez. Enough! Lets do what right for the NY Mets instead of following orders of the Whacky Professor.

WOW our Pro Baseball Central show from this past Wednesday night has struck up major debate in the Mets-Phillies rival as Bill Bear of  Crashburn Alley got our “Irish up” when Joe and I  went on a positions by position comparison of the two NL East front runners. Check out Bill’ site for his mathematical break down of the two teams then listen to the show as Joe and I spit tobacco juice (sorry Bill that some of it got on your shoes)   and tighten the belt on our flannel uniforms and use old school thinking. Just hearing me defend Mariano Rivera is worth listening to. Yeah, that’s right I had to defend a Highlander and I’m pissed that Bill made me do that!

I’m not worried about John Maine even with him not feeling comfortable on the mound yesterday. Maine feels it his mechanics that are off and being that it’s early in spring and he’s coming off surgery to his wing as ling as he’s not hurting it’s just a matter of time before he gets his feel back on the mound.

Ryan Church fouled a pitch off his knee. It hurt. He put ice on it. It feels better. In other words, keep moving nothing to see here.

Tommy LaSorda says “You pinko, pussy, sons of bitch’s better be rootin’ for the good ol’ U S of A in the WBC or you’re a fuckin traitor” “and buy a fuckin’ shirt or cap too”

Who? Santana? Nah, nobody here by that name.

I am very very much bummed out that Life On Mars is getting booted off ABC but my mood has brightened  considerably by word that Curb Your Enthusiasm with the cast of SEINFELD making appearances on the show as well is back in production and will return to TV in the fall. Just hearing the shows theme song makes me giddy! (wish I could link it but shhhhhhhhh I’m at work)

W B C-YA LATER

Whoever came up this World Baseball Classic bullshit tournament needs a punch in the face. You want to play a trumped up fantasy type game like this do it on a computer or X-Box. When it comes defending my country, I’m all in but when it comes to baseball my heart is Blue and Orange. All I care about are the New York Mets and what spring training is for is to evaluate my team to see if we’re ready for the upcoming season and with this WBC, that goal is taking a back seat and that pisses me off.

The Pudge to the Mets rumors are back and hotter and heavier as the team may be trying to give Shrek a prod in the ass or maybe they are just sick and tired of his underachieving.

As per Mike Silva NYBD, the Philadelphia Inquirer is running a poll on which Mets collapse was the best the 2007, 2008 or the on this upcoming season. Silva does a great job taking the paper to the wood shed but I’d say to Mike and all Mets fans just let these Philly Phuck heads be. It will be fun watching them embarrass themselves as they have no idea how to handle success. The whole town is like trailer trash winning the Mega Millions Lottery, they will self-destruct soon.

You get the feeling at some point the U.S Dept of Justice will throw in the towel on trying to prosecute Barry Bonds. All this is a waste of Federal Agent manpower, clogging the courts and a big waste of money. Just blame it all on the Bush Administration we’ll all understand.

I would pay money to watch Lou Pinella beat Steve Philips’ ass.

Just the thought of D-Wright lockering next to Jimmy Rollins and Derek Jeter makes me want to heave

NO MRI FOR JOHAN, METS TAKE A POLAROID INSTEAD

I can understand not wanting to spend over 45 mil for Manny Ramirez but you mean to tell me that with the first class facilities the Mets crow about down in St Lonesome, they couldn’t purchase or lease a state of the art MRI an fly down Dr. Altcheck for month in sunny FLA.  I still say the only reason that Johan Santana was not flown to NY is due to the 10 inches of snow that’s on the ground and still falling from the sky here in NYC

If you read the Daily News this morning you get the impression that Santana agrees with Old School Dan Warthen that he tried to accelerated his training so he could pitch in the WBC. If you read the NY Post they make it sound like Old School Dan Warthen made Santana throw to much and too soon. I think I‘ll stick with Adam Rubin’s reporting although I do think that it is not a coincidence that both Santana and Tim Redding, both coming off surgery, are both having arm trouble due to compensating from knee surgery in Johan’ case and foot surgery for Redding. Santana I mentioned wanted to make the WBC and Redding wants that number 5 spot in the rotation and sees the completion and looked to rush back a bit too soon. The organization has to tighten up it’s rehab policies here. They may have dodged a bullet here with Santana but hopefully they learned a lesson and look over their training regiment.
